@Eric - Lists look very interesting as does Google Wave! I need to spend some time with both ;-)
@Marsha - Great suggestions!
@Shennee - My pleasure!
@Trish - I agree with you! Everyone will take it in at their own pace... I just hope to help remove some of the fear around understanding it. It was my pleasure to be a part of the event! Thank you for having me ;-)

I think to move this forward we are going to have to figure out how to reach the masses. During the opening discussion at HRevolution there was quite a bit of discussion around whether or not the majority of HR pros would adopt social media. A couple people said it would happen naturally and fairly fast. I disagree. I also disagree that we all need to be using social media. Like anything, there is a curve to this. There will be the top 10% who use social media in HR every day, and 10%+ that will never adopt it. Then there are those remaining who will adopt it to varying degrees.

My challenge to HRevolution participants is to stop looking at this like we're pushing a boulder uphill. I think we just need to realize that if we each work to move things forward in our little world of HR, that collectively will move the profession.

Nice post and SO glad you were a topic leader (Advanced Blogging) and an active participant!

1. Home in on Audiences
If you're in corporate HR, - it's management and the worker teams you're assigned to, if you're a recruiter - the industries you specialize in, if internal communications - everyone inside the company, if you're a benefits maven - vendors and recepients.
2. Look at including associations, publications, etc. that focus on HR.
3. Universities and academia - meaning students your organization may want to recruit and influential professors who specialize in OB and HR.

Great thinking, Michael!

Great post.

Two thoughts on expanding the bubble.

The first builds on part two of your step-by-step. In addition to using search Twitter search terms like HR and SHRM, there are many good Twitter lists that people can follow in order to communicate with some of the HR greats.

Second is Google Wave. Wave allows people to communicate and collaborate in real-time. I've only been using Wave for a week or so now, but it's shaping up to be a great tool.
